No Place Like Home

Helleeerrrr (Madea's voice)

Are you as happy to see the weekend as I was? I'm pretty sure you were. Even though I was to attend a funeral things were not looking up in terms of transportation so I opted to make the drive home to St. Thomas.
What a fruitful parish to be from yet the people are still so 19th century. Lol... I'm mean I know but it's the truth.
Time and time again I have considered moving back home but every time I leave here and drive back to Kingston I realize why I decide to sit there and pay that rent. Its just too far!!!
This weekend has been full of fruits and the occasional bathroom visits :) along with a lovely hairdo from my foundation stylist Kadie..she's so good to me and very affordable too.
I'm glad I'm home though, the mangoes and the plums just reminds me of when i was a kid climbing all these trees at 6am trying to get the first batch before my brother came out. It's nice and cool now too and the morning fresh air is like non other.
Last weekend I did another 5k. New gears, new time... I'm getting there slowly but surely. I really love to run. Time over 5.47 KM..32.07 minutes. Let's shave the 2 min for the next run shall we

Overall it's been an awesome weekend...apart from some slight miscommunication that of course I can handle.
I leave you with this thought : Position, power, money or popularity do not a great man make. It's the way in which we use this to help others that determines how great we are.

Changes

IT FINALLY RAINED!!!!
Yes it did for almost a week.

As the weather changes, we look into our lives and contemplate the changes we should be making to make ourselves better. Do I need a new car, job, apartment?...these are the things we ask ourselves from time to time. Contrary to popular belief, not all change is bad. Situations may arise causing change to be imminent and what else can we do but to embrace them right?

Recently I got talking to an old school mate of mine (he’s not that old but..lol) and we were discussing how changes have started to affect relationships and how you chose a partner. Are we willing enough to be sexually experimental, can we be that ride or die partner? I for one am not against a person’s sexual orientation, it’s your life and you do whatever but bear in mind that even though you may find someone who shares your views you have to be careful not to try and force your views on someone else. Not everyone embraces their physical appearances as well as others. Matters of insecurities often arise causing an individual to be reluctant to such changes that to you may seem like the norm.

It is then for us to reevaluate our lives and say hey, maybe this isn’t so bad after all…let’s do it.

Journey

Hellooooo Maayyyyyyy
It's springtime :). I would love to be in New York because there is definitely no spring in Jamaica. We hardly even have water here. it's been a week since I've had a hot shower and boy do I miss those. This drought is really out of hand this year in Kingston. Other parishes have been having lovely rainfall, but I don't know rasta. The Kingstonians must have done God something for the place to be this dry. The lawns look horrible and the Mona reservoir is almost at it's last.
PLEASE LORD WE NEED SOME RAIN!!!!!!!

Carnival season has come and passed and I must say i enjoyed the fetes more than road march. Maybe because i didn't have my feathers on and my crew was MIA most of the time or maybe i'm just getting old. It was a good season though and i look forward to it next year.

Kept my word and went back to school and believe me it has been a headache. I'd rather be at home watching The Game or stretching away in yoga class. Class assignments, groupwork, tests, GROUPWORK -__-..it's a never ending series of events but with each day my dream gets bigger so I am grateful to meet people who I can see being a part of this dream

I'm also on that natural hair journey (isn't everbody these days). I wish I had started sooner because now i don't have the patience to deal with it. It's becoming pretty annoying doing this moisturize and seal regimen but some days it's really cute. Trudy just cannot be pleased lol. I see braids in the near future, preferably at the end of the month to start my vacation right. I look forward to being away and seeing people i haven't in ages. Especially to meet little Zy Zy, she should be all of 3 months old when i get there.
I'll definitely take pics for the blog end of May into early June as I am sure this vacation will be epic.
Cheers :)
